What does it feel like to explore?
Don’t you know what to do with your weekends? You have a taste for adventure but you hesitate? This is for you!
As you explore, feel the chills
Urban exploration is very random. Everything can go well, or it can be a nightmare. The regulars know this well. Sometimes urban exploration holds treasures, surprises, sometimes it’s very ordinary, nothing to report.
It’s the urbex lottery as I call it. But for all these moments of astonishment, thrills and adventure, we say to ourselves that it is worth it.

We took this picture in Chernobyl (Ukraine). It is a former nursery, with abandoned children’s beds.
Do you like to be scared?
It all depends on taste, but there are definitely people who like to be scared. Why do horror films work so well? Well, you could say that some abandoned places have the same effect as a horror movie, except you’re not on your couch munching a Kit-Kat, you’re in the movie, you’re an actor in your own scene.
Living things is more rewarding than watching them. For all these explorers, the main targets of their urbex research are going to be: abandoned mortuaries, abandoned cemeteries, abandoned psychiatric hospitals, abandoned asylums or abandoned bunkers.
We invite you to have a look at our article on unusual urbex in the world, such as Chernobyl or the catacombs of Paris.

We took this picture in Japan. It is an abandoned snakes laboratory. Thousands of snakes either in formaldehyde or dried and stacked in boxes, and also snake skeletons.
Forgotten surprises that you don’t expect
Some urbex, you don’t really know what to expect. This was the case for this snake lab. Difficult to find, as it was not very big and was nested in another bigger structure accessible to the public, we didn’t know what to expect. We only knew that it was a kind of laboratory that studied snakes. What a surprise to find thousands of dead snakes. Some were in formaldehyde, some were simply dried and piled up in boxes on the floor, and some had their skeletons preserved.
I remember this time in Germany we got permission to visit the Forbiden City which contained a magnificent ancient theatre. An old forest lodge was also a nice surprise. It was used as a set for the film “Nobody sleeps in the woods tonight“.

We took this picture by drone in Japan. It is an abandoned wellness centre. Coordinates available in the shop.
Marvelling at forgotten beauties
There are some explorations that are remembered for life. Blown away by their beauty, by the environment that surrounds them, by the feeling of being one of the first to explore it. This was the case for the wellness centre in the photo above. Look at this jungle surrounding the building, overlooking the sea, with a setting sun. And the interior is as incredible as the exterior.
Everyone is amazed differently, it’s up to you to find the urbex that will give you the feeling that time has stopped. If you’re looking for these kinds of urbex places, check out the exclusive urbex locations we have for 3.99e in our urbex shop.
As you explore, be like a modern Indiana Jones
Who hasn’t dreamed of venturing into mystical places, thwarting traps, and bringing back an ancient relic? This spirit of adventure in lands of the past is embodied by Indiana Jones. In urbex, feeling like a 20th century adventurer is also possible.
You too can discover the Dragon Temple in Thailand. Once you have crossed a compact jungle, you will discover this wonderful abandoned temple. Lilies and forgotten treasures guaranteed!

This is inside the Maginot Line. We have a special map of the Maginot Line dedicated only for the exploration of this huge underground structure.
Do you like history and old things?
If you like history and old things, you have a lot to choose from: abandoned houses, abandoned villages, abandoned military camps, abandoned schools, and so on.
There are a lot of urbex places in the world with a lot of history, like this abandoned town in Kazakhstan, where you feel like you are walking in a lunar desert, like in the universe of Dune.
There are also urbex places with a troubled, even macabre past, such as old villas or sanatoriums.

We took this photo on the roof on an abandoned chemical factory in Germany : Colossus.
Do you like going in an adventure?
Adventure, the real thing. Leaving at the drop of a hat on Sunday morning with a backpack. Crossing an abandoned place on the way. To stop on the side of the road. Trying your luck. No idea what you’re going to find. And it doesn’t matter, what matters is that afterwards you leave with the same desire to discover what will be offered to you.
When I think of “adventure” I immediately think of the abandoned factory Colossus in Germany. The view from the top with a mild weather and a setting sun is magical. An experience to be had, definitely.
Are you into beautiful and unique photography?
This form of exploration often attracts photographers and history buffs, as these buildings often offer unique views of the architecture and culture of the city or region. Photographs of these derelict buildings can be very aesthetically pleasing, with unique textures, colours and shapes created by overgrown vegetation, graffiti and tagging, and weathering.
We hope we have inspired you to try the urbex experience! You can tell us below about your experiences, or why you are exploring.
