Does a really competitive urbex database still exist?

What’s behind EasyUrbex’s low prices?

In recent years, urbex databases on the Internet have become increasingly common. With the multiplication of these sites selling urbex addresses, it is becoming difficult to see clearly. Why choose EasyUrbex and not another? What is behind our prices?

One of the oldest urbex databases

EasyUrbex was launched in 2018, making it one of the pioneers in selling urbex locations. To learn more about its creation, I invite you to discover EasyUrbex in more depth. The vast majority of urbex databases on the internet have been created from 2020 until today. Wishing to surf on the phenomenon, some announce that they have existed for many years, to increase their credibility. A simple check of the year of creation of their domain name makes it possible to identify the liars. Check yourself using Whois.com.

But seniority is nothing if it is not accompanied by a continuous search for improvement.

A constantly evolving urbex database

Since the beginning, we have made an effort to really select the urbex addresses offered for sale. If you are going to have a catch-all database, with half of the addresses no longer viable, you might as well not start your business. We sometimes receive requests from explorers who have obtained urbex addresses from our competitors and want to exchange them with us. Sometimes entire maps in KMZ format. After a rigorous sorting, about 1 out of 2 addresses is no longer valid. And it can go down to 80% of urbex spots that are no longer valid. At this level, you might as well put random dots on a map and you will have your urbex map.

The urbex places on the shop come mainly from exchanges with the community, through our exchange form, but also from local partners all over Europe. They provide us with reliable and quality information. All this and our own research allows us to constantly evolve our urbex database, always with reliability as a priority. Anyway, it is simply a principle of economics. With a low quality urbex database, customers ask for a refund and don’t come back. No chance of holding on in the medium and long term.

Maybe the problem is here. Where many urbex website creators see a short term opportunity, we see a solid long term establishment. To allow you to see for yourself some of our work, addresses that are no longer viable are still visible in the shop and more specifically in the #Outdated# category. Once a year we remove them so as not to overload the website, but this allows you to see for yourself the work we do.

Why do the prices vary from 0.99e to 3.99e?

To allow you to see more clearly. Most sites selling urbex addresses have opted for fixed prices regardless of the urbex locations offered, like 3.99e for every urbex places. A factory with only 4 walls and nothing else left is at the same price as a huge hotel with lots of things to discover inside? Yes, that’s what’s going on. It’s the easiest choice, no need to “sort” urbex places according to chosen criteria.

At EasyUrbex, we have chosen since our beginning in 2018 not to take the easy way out. On the contrary, we are based on a simple principle: set our prices according to the quality and accessibility of the addresses, but always at an affordable price. What a surprise to see sometimes on some urbex websites locations at 40e or 50e. We have them here at 3.99e. No need to mortgage your house to explore.

Our prices reflect the quality and accessibility of the urbex locations we offer. This allows you to determine at a glance whether an urbex address is likely to interest you or not. Of course, our prices and the criteria we use are somewhat subjective. We strive daily to judge the urbex locations offered for sale with objectivity. However, it is true that everyone will not agree with our criterias. An address at 2.49e can be a very good surprise for some and a tasteless exploration for others.

A brief summary of our pricing policy:
3.99e = Exclusive
2.99e = Uncommon
2.49e = Good
1.99e = Common
0.99e and 1.49e = For beginners

Finally, for our urbex maps, the prices are essentially set according to the number of urbex locations on them. We then adjust this price according to the overall quality of the urbex addresses. Once again, you will hardly find regularly updated urbex maps at such competitive prices.

What is the work behind the EasyUrbex database?

Adding a coordinate to our website is a 4-step process: search (or exchange), verification, pricing according to quality, and publication on the website and maps. This process, multiplied by 1000, 2000 or 3000 coordinates is long, very long. Not to mention the hundreds of hours of searching for coordinates in our early days.

Moreover, unlike many of our (unregistered) competitors, we have to deal with the administrative and fiscal constraints linked to our legal status. And yes, with EasyUrbex you are in contact with a company, not an unknown person who hides to avoid being found. We have chosen transparency. You will find all the information in our general terms and conditions.

In order to provide a quality database, we have spent and continue to spend many hours on the road, both close to home and on the other side of the world. This has allowed us to gain a great deal of experience in exploration and to have a global view of the quality of urbex around the world. And the least we can say is that Japan is, in our opinion, an exploration paradise! Explore this paradise yourself.
